Rich is a UK born, freelance 3D Artist, currently residing in Auckland, New Zealand.
Working in 3D since 2001. Starting with 8 years in the VFX film industry, I've worked on films such as Batman Begins, Harry Potter, Sunshine and Kick Ass. More recently I worked in motion design, which has led to skills being both technical but also affords me with a good sense of timing and editing.
Currently I’m working primarily with Houdini (indie) and Redshift as my main workflow tools. I’m can easily jump in on most parts of a pipeline all within Houdini, working between look development and lighting, modelling, animation, camera and shot design, create procedural tools and setups as well as vex coding. I’m also starting to move into Houdini simulations being comfortable working with particles, vellum (soft body, cloth & grain sims) as well as some fluid and pyro work.
I’m also able to work within cinema4d, however i’m starting to move away from this now.
Inspired by the world of concept art, product design and architecture, I like to mix interesting shape and form with stylised design to create engaging and unique work.
